Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be able to do a headstand?

No. You need a regular practice and reasonable health. The course builds the advanced postures over its duration, with variations for every body.

Is the online 200-hour course as valid as a residential one?

Yes — it carries the same RYS 200 certification, syllabus and assessments, and qualifies you for the 300-hour advanced course. The difference is only that you keep your daily life around it.

Can I join the 300-hour residential course directly?

No. The ATTC is open only to graduates of a 200-hour Sivananda TTC. If you trained at another Sivananda centre, or online with us, you are eligible — send us your certificate with your application.

What is the time commitment each week?

Around twenty hours across live sessions, self-practice and study, concentrated at weekends with shorter weekday classes.

Do I have to be vegetarian?

For the duration of the course, yes. It is part of the practice, and on the residential course all meals are provided.

What if I miss a session?

Full attendance is expected for certification. Occasional absences can be made up with recordings and additional teaching practice, agreed in advance.

Where can I teach afterwards?

Anywhere. The certification is registered with Yoga Alliance USA and recognised by Sivananda centres worldwide. Several of our own teachers trained here.
