About Us

A Home for Classical Yoga in Gurgaon

Founded in 2004, we teach yoga exactly the way it was handed down to us.

Our Story

Twenty-two years, one unchanged practice

Namaste, and Swagatam.

Sivananda Yoga Centre, Gurgaon was set up on 1 April 2004 by Yogacharyas Arun Pandala and Deeksha Jain Prasad. The Centre's main purpose is to spread the teaching and practice of an authentic and ancient system of yoga, thereby promoting health, well being, a stress-free lifestyle and a more balanced and visionary individual.

Sivananda Gurgaon presently runs four neighbourhood centres across Gurgaon and online classes daily on Zoom. The class is the same as the one taught in the Sivananda tradition worldwide — the basic Sivananda class and all its offshoots, taught by teachers with decades of experience.

The centre has mostly grown entirely by word of mouth, one benefitted practitioner bringing another.

We are currently offering ONLINE and OFFLINE yoga classes, YOGA RETREATS, TEACHER TRAINING COURSES.

How We Work

Three things about Sivananda Gurgaon

Teaching is an act of service

At Sivananda Gurgaon, internationally certified teachers work as volunteers (called karma yogis). Only a few are paid staff, who also look after administration. Our YouTube channel offers hundreds of classes free of cost, for anyone across the world to practice. Seva, selfless service runs through the lifeblood of the Centre.

The classical sequence

For 22 years and more, we have not adjusted to any fitness trends, added music and we do not have fancy equipment or heated rooms during winter. We teach the same pranayama and asanas daily, again and again. Intense attention to the principles of tradition and repetition brings mastery.

Community

The buzzword in health, the trending way, is community. At Sivananda Gurgaon, we have thousands of people who feel at home in our centres and classes – a home away from home. People come to practice, not just for exercise, but also for the atmosphere, the camaraderie and bonding, and togetherness in a long journey to good health.

Come and Practice With Us

The best way to understand what we do is to spend an hour on a mat — ninety minutes if you come at the weekend. Your first class is free, at any of our four centres or online.
