SUNDAYS with ARUN

BACKGROUND and OVERVIEW

We all have questions – about life, about meaning and purpose, about health, about diet. We have many unanswered questions and unresolved doubts. We rarely get a forum and a place to just discuss matters of importance – our inherent and latent desires, ambitions and regrets; relationships, stress, career, an approach to mental and physical fitness.

Sundays with Arun is an ongoing conversation about life. It is built around the tenets of yoga, traditional living, common sense and ancient science.

I discuss any and every matter of importance with you, things that matter - health in particular, including diet, taking care of others, the right sources for alternate medical treatment; reducing pain; exercise; getting rid of overt, covert over thinking and anxiety - a host of things, in a discussion format.

MEET ARUN

Yoga Acharya (Master of Yoga) is one of the senior-most Sivananda Yoga teachers in India. He has been practicing the Sivananda Yoga system since 1992 and teaching Yoga for over 30 years. He holds an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher ERYT 500 certification from Yoga Alliance, USA.

Arun is the joint Founder of Sivananda Yoga Centre, Gurgaon, one of the largest Sivananda style programmes in the world.

Arun's vision is a disease and pain free planet with yoga showing the way. In his talks and seminars about yoga and healthy living, he inspires a generation of people to adopt a traditional lifestyle, without compromising or sacrificing all the goodness that the modern era offers.

He teaches with compassion, wisdom, insight and common sense. He infuses great humour and brings simplicity to a complex modern world of disease, illness, pain and stress on one side and the ancient science, philosophy and practices of yoga on the other.

Arun got into yoga 30 years ago, because of a necessity. He had severe back pain, and his father brought him to the newly opened Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in New Delhi to see if yoga could help mend his back.

In 1992, at age 29, Arun was not in great shape, either physically or mentally. It was here, that yoga found him and he found yoga. The back pain went away pretty soon, mood and energy lifted, his fitness levels peaked. As he says, he has not had to take a single day off in the past 30
years because of any sickness whatsoever!
As his health improved back then, he felt a calling to understand yoga better and go deeper into the science and art of yoga. Arun went on to do his Yoga Teacher Training from the Sivananda Ashram in Trivandrum, and started a life of transformation, mentorship and guiding people
down the right path in daily ethics, personal discipline, and the vast science of yoga. For nearly 20 years, after taking an early retirement from a two decade long unsatisfying corporate life, Arun has blazed an entirely new path, making ancient yoga a viable option for modern people
to look after themselves. Many thousands of people around the world consider him to be a guru, mentor, guide, philosopher and friend, who has shone the light, and been the reason for a transformative experience in their lives.

Now, over 60, Arun exhibits extraordinary energy, works tirelessly to alleviate the suffering of people around him and lives like someone half his age. He attributes the quality of his life to yoga, which he says has given him happiness, hope, a clear vision and tremendous
immunity and good health.
Arun explains that yoga allows you to have an extraordinary life, making the best of every circumstance you are presented with. Yoga, he says, is not about disease or health or exercise - it is like a foster mother, who is there to sculpt a beautiful life out of ordinary, even mundane
things.
Part of Arun's teaching is what he experienced in his own life - that yoga is the discovery, or the rediscovery of your own potential. He says, yoga helps you to understand, and thereby sets you free.

ABOUT

SUNDAYS WITH ARUN

In the busyness of life, sometimes we are missing out on the business of life. Talking about missing, do you not have this feeling, a lot of the time, when you pause for moment, that something is missing? You have everything, but there is that unknown one thing or things, you feel, that would really help to sort things out. The presence of some one thing would make you feel, aha, now I feel okay, satisfied, complete.
There are some other questions, issues, doubts, restlessness, unease, frustrations and even great joy and scary abundance. About our health, our relationships, the whole circus called money (or the lack of it), and about our life and life itself.
Sundays with Arun is a gathering of all of us, just engaging in a conversation. A kind of discussion that we cannot have in a drawing room, or with friends, or in a pub or a club, or even in our offices and places of work.
Sundays with Arun is an exploration of what it means to be human, and what is possible for all of us as people. We all sit together in an online format (for now), over our sips of refreshments, and ponder over big and small things.
Sundays with Arun is founded on the basics of Yoga, traditional science, ancient wisdom, life’s experiences and common sense. It is practical and philosophical, at the same time.
It is free, and open to all, not just yoga people. Those in a career, in transition, those who have conflicts, those who are searching for meaning and purpose; even for those of us who just want to enjoy 90 minutes of freewheeling, humorous interactions – Sundays with Arun is refreshing, transforming, a welcome change.
Welcome to change.
Sundays with Arun, every fortnight, on Zoom and YouTube.

Enjoy being part of something unique, something that binds, that makes bonds, yet sets you free.

TESTIMONIALS

"I joined the satsang today via youtube. I heard it on my headphones while vacuuming and moping 😃 and I am feeling so light, fulfilled, and energised. Like you said maybe yoga one day is to just listen in to this conversation.

I think in this world today that is falling apart a space like your sunday freewheeling talk is a much needed place of integrating… and integrity😊 We all need it— you and us. Confusion is a given and fired by the world events. This space provides a way to explore our confusions together. And that is a good thing… clarity may or may not come but the knowledge that I can explore my confusion with others is a blessing.

Om shanti🌼😊 "
