BACKGROUND and OVERVIEW
We have a very successful programme of teaching online yoga regularly since the past four years.
In March 2020 the world entered a new era, with the pandemic. We at the Sivananda Yoga Centre, Gurgaon immediately morphed into a new entity, offering all our classes, courses and yoga material online. We learnt quickly how to translate ancient yogic practices to be effective on zoom, youtube and other media, and have mastered it over time.
We conduct the regular Sivananda yoga 60 and 90 minutes classes which are practiced under the supervision of certified teachers and staff of SYCG. You can practice yoga daily from the safety and comfort of your home.
Our online yoga classes train you in the five principles of good exercise, proper breathing, effective relaxation, a healthy diet and positive thinking and meditation.
The ONLINE platform allows the teacher to see and correct you and help you to improve your practice. There is a two way communication possible, so that any discussion that is needed can happen.
No prior experience of yoga is necessary.
We will teach everything step-by-step.
Please note: It is MANDATORY to attend a Sivananda Beginner's Course for all newcomers.

SIVANANDA YOGA
The yoga we teach stems from an illustrious lineage spanning over 50 years around the world, and thousands of years before that in india. it is a programme suited to modern conditions. it is efficient in its use of time, it is understandable to and enjoyable for a modern audience, and the practices are repetitive, easy to follow and highly beneficial.
The teachings of the Sivananda system can be encapsulated into five basic principles.

Proper exercise – asana (steady poses)

Proper breathing – pranayama (prana = vital energy)

Proper relaxation – savasana (pose for maximum relaxation)

Proper diet – vegetarian (lacto or vegan)

Positive thinking and meditation – dhyana and vedanta (true knowledge)

What we teach is a Hatha Yoga class. The classes will cover the practice of asana, pranayama, surya namaskar, chanting, relaxation and meditation.

MEET THE TEACHERS
Sivananda Yoga Centre, Gurgaon has a teacher body of over 100 active teachers. Each of them has completed his or her International Yoga Teachers’ Training course certified by Yoga Alliance to teach yoga anywhere in the world. This teacher body, growing and maturing as each day goes by, is one of the largest pools of qualified yoga teachers of the Sivananda system in the world, practicing and teaching together at one centre, online and onsite.
