About Us

Brief Introduction

Sivananda Yoga Centre, Gurgaon (SYCG) was set up on 1 April 2004.

The main purpose of the Centre is to spread the teaching and practice of an authentic and ancient system of yoga. Ordinary people have an opportunity to improve their physical and mental health and well-being. A traditional form of yoga helps to reduce stress, builds harmony and balance, and introduces a better way of life. For 20 years and counting, this has been our aim, and in this we have succeeded to a great extent.

Our Yoga Programme

We have daily yoga classes, special courses, annual programmes, residential off sites like retreats, yoga teacher training courses and advanced teacher training courses; yoga during pregnancy, and yoga classes for children and teenagers.

The yoga classes are held every day, throughout the year in our physical centres located in Gurgaon and Hyderabad, and also Online on Zoom.

The yoga programme includes Asana classes, Pranayama and Meditation courses, Advanced Asana Classes and courses, introducing Beginners to yoga, special workshops to teach Surya Namaskar, Headstand (Sirisasana), Crow (Kakasana), yoga for stress relief, courses to help reverse chronic illness and pain and lifestyle disorders and yoga for special needs like pregnancy, children and senior citizens.

We customize the corporate yoga sessions to suit the environment of the organization, and its special requirements. From mindfulness, to weight loss and back pain, and chair yoga, there are a range of yoga methods that we offer in a package to help ease the health issues and increase mental focus of employees of multinational and national entities.

Our Legacy So Far

Since its inception, the Centre has taught over 50000 yoga classes involving individuals, groups and organizations. More than 50,000 people have taken onsite classes with us in the past 20 years, and over 250,000 people online, from all over the world, since March 2020. Currently, over 3000 new people come to the Centre every year, to try classes, and make yoga a way of life. You can be one of them.

The Centre receives over 1000 people every week in 100 open classes.

All the teachers at the Centre have taken an international yoga teachers’ training course (recognized by Yoga Alliance).

These and other courses and workshops were created over 75 years ago in the United States, Canada, Europe, South East Asia and India. Each teacher goes through the same rigorous Gurukula system of training – learning by repetitive practice under the supervision of senior, more experienced teachers. They learn to have sensitivity, respect and a deep understanding of the human condition.

The yoga class and yoga system which we teach, is one of the most popular forms of yoga in the world today, easy to begin and to understand and to practice.
